Timothy H. Hankins graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with Honors in 1978. He received his law degree from the University of Richmond in 1981. Mr. Hankins opened his law firm in 1981 on Main Street in the City of Newport News, Virginia, is a member of the Virginia State Bar, Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Lawyers Pilots Bar Association.

Mr. Hankins was named to "who's who" in American Law: and he is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an organization consisting of attorneys who have settled a case or obtained a verdict in excess of $1,000,000.00. He has tried personal injury, domestic relations, divorce and criminal cases in state and federal courts, argued on appeal before the Virginia Supreme Court and Virginia Court of Appeals. Mr. Hankins personal injury practice consists of approximately 50% of his case load and he handles cases in Maritime/Jones Act, auto accidents, slip and falls, product liability, airplane crashes, electrocutions, and medical malpractice. He has experience in trying and settling personal injury, divorce and domestic relation cases as well as representing persons charged with criminal and traffic offenses including driving while intoxicated, misdemeanors and felony charges.
