In a case where a large settlement was obtained, plaintiff was on her way to work, stopped at an intersection in York County, Virginia when she was struck from the rear i her pick-up truck by the defendnat who was in the course of his employments. There was approximately $800.00 property damage to the rear of the plaintiff's pick-up truck. Plaintff left the scene, proceeded to work and over the ensuing months became unable to perform her job functions, which eventually led to her resigning her job. Plaintiff was dianosed with a closed head injury appoximately seven months after the accident had occurred. This case settled prior to trial for a lump payment of case and structured payments of a substantial amount.
In another automobile case with a successful settlement the plaintiff was proceeding to her home in Norfolk, Virginia on the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel when she slowed for traffic and was rear ended by a vehicle which was in turn rearended y two other vehicles causing a chain reaction. Plaintiff sustained soft tissue injuries and received extensive treatment. This case settled for a substantial amount combined from the three defendant drivers.
In a seaman's case, plaintiff was a deck and on a scallop vessel when his hand was mangled in a hydraulic wench during a haul back while the vessel was fishing in rough seas. This case settled for a considerable amount prior to trial.
